John Oswald "i'd Love To Turn you"
:::
New release by plunderphonician John Oswald
"This album features four main tracks:
- the rascali plunderphonic ‘Fee Fie Foe Fum’;
- the orchestral compositions ‘i’d Love to Turn…’
- the big band ‘reFUSE’;
- and a brand new solo piano composition ’Tip’, commissioned by Marc André Hamelin.
All the compositions are of the Rascali Klepitoire genre; i.e., as with plunderphonics, they are based on familiar pre-existing music; but they are additionally playable by living musicians (bonus items include performance recordings, videos, and an annotated full score for each piece*).
The main tracks are plunderphonic/rascali-klepitoire hybrids, featuring live-performance recorded elements in combination with studio-based additions and plunderphonic transformations.
All the pieces are primarily focused on the music that a teenage John Oswald was discovering in the mid 1960s."
